At the Park 24-07-2014

Fran and Rhian’s Day at the Park

As much as I moan about there being nothing to do where I live, even I have to admit that it’s a beautiful place in the summer. So on a ridiculously hot afternoon with about 50 other things to do, my sister and I decided that the best thing to do was walk to the park. Bearing in mind that most of the 20 minute walk there is in direct sunlight, you can imagine the delicious state we were in long before we arrived, but we persevered towards the promise of shade and a cold drink when we got there. It was worth it.

Most of the photos are taken in the woods next to a small lake, where there was more shade. Please excuse any squinty eyes and pasty legs ;)

Nails 19-07-2014

Nails Inc. Weighhouse Street

I bought this little bargain off of Ebay, as it’s no longer on the website and it’s definitely one to look out for!

It’s a 2-coat polish, as the first one is a little too thin, but the colour itself is an absolute dream. It’s only just blue and is the perfect pastel to compliment the best of the trends this summer. Not to mention it being one of my all-time favourite colours.

On top of all of that, it’s pretty fast drying with an amazing finish. If you get the chance, buy this shade!

Florals For Summer 2014

My Rose Print Dress

Floral prints have been everywhere since spring, from bright, bold designs to festival style and vintage fabrics.

This rose print dress from H&M is my favourite, in a moody mix of black and dark red; it is perfect for going from day to night with a couple of accessory changes. Swap sandals for heels and add a statement necklace, keeping colours limited as the print is quite busy.

The button through front makes it a really versatile piece, which can be worn completely done up over a dress, or more undone for a more casual look. Here I have chosen to pair it with leggings and a black cropped top, and the print is the star of an otherwise plain outfit. As a short person (I’m 5”4), I find it is best paired with heels as it was definitely created for non-vertically challenged beings. This said, wearing a long garment really helps with the illusion of height and at mine, that’s always a massive plus point.

I also really like the feel of the fabric and the movement makes you feel like a model in front of an electric fan, when a breeze catches the skirt. Though it is a sheer fabric, it is not brazenly so and the subtlety adds to the elegance of the piece.

My Summer Perfume Pick

Sì

While most people finish university and immediately hit the pub, I decided shopping was definitely the best option. After a bit of a spree, involving several shops, a ‘few’ purchases and more money than I want to own up to, I decided to treat myself to a new fragrance. (Apparently the clothes didn’t count…)

Initially I hadn’t been sure about Sì, but then I had a sample of scented paper in my magazine and got curious. The paper ended up stashed in my underwear draw and the bursts of fragrance every morning became slightly addictive. So standing in The Perfume Shop, I knew which one I wanted and since buying it, I have fallen completely in love.

The fruity blackcurrant and citrus top notes are the scents of summer parties and refreshing Pimms, while the floral heart adds sweetness to the fragrance. The lingering fragrance from the perfume is heady vanilla, yet tempered with the woody base, it is comforting, full of promise and longevity.

As much as perfumes are very subjective, if you feel inspired by this, or a whole host of reviews about Sì, try it! This is a fragrance which has surprised, delighted and won a place on my shelf.
